I'm a freelance journalist covering technology; anything from a mobile phone to a mainframe, if it makes a difference to people. I write for a wide range of titles from the Financial Times and the Guardian to the developer section of The Register, technology titles like IT Pro, PC Plus and Server Management, consumer titles like Tom's Hardware, PC Advisor and Windows XP magazine and a long list of others, because I like to watch technology across the whole marketplace.
I cover consumer, small, business, enterprise and developer topics within technology, writing reviews, news, tutorials, interviews and features (and I do some writing about food, crafts and science fiction on the side). I've written and edited white papers, case studies, newsletters and other commercial editorial. I'm always interested in new contacts for interviews and profiles, in new technology stories and in potential commissions for editorial or commercial work, including media training.
I often collaborate with my husband Simon Bisson, who is also a technology journalist and consultant. With a Blackberry in one pocket and a Windows Mobile smartphone in the other we're rarely away from computers entirely, but when I'm not working I'm most likely to be found with my nose in a book, off travelling, making a fuss of our four cats, cooking something elaborate with a lot of garlic or thinking about taking up pottery again, or finishing the knitting, embroidery and patchwork quilts I've been working on for the last five years...
